The cobblestones of Schaerbeek

Almost 500 cobblestones, spread throughout the borough of Schaerbeek, have been redecorated with mosaics by the artist Ingrid Schreyers.

Originally they marked the Artist' Walk in the borough, but then locals started ordering them to be placed in front of their houses. Ingrid Schreyers has now stopped making the mosaics, but they still provide an unusual way to discover the borough of Schaerbeek!

Art Deco/Art Nouveau/two-way mirror toilets

  • The Greenwich Café is the place to go for chess fans. It dates back to the start of the 20th century, and it almost crumbled away. But after being bought up by a Dutch investor and patron, it has been reopened.
Almost every table has a chessboard for those who want to play. But the café is also interesting for the original architecture... of its toilets, located in the basement.
